Qualitative

We use qualitative research both for blue sky exploration and for diving deep and finding nuance. Our approaches range from structured to ethnographic and behavioral methods, inspired by the social sciences and infused with our own creativity. Whether facilitating co-creation sessions, conducting digital ethnographies, or observing alongside consumers (think Super Bowl party crashing or drive-alongs!), our moderators are our strategists who dig deep below the surface to unearth what really motivates consumers.

Quantitative

We apply quantitative methods to solve for a wide range of needs, from sizing and segmenting markets to testing concepts or assessing brand performance. Always, we listen to what consumers say but also go beyond it. Our Consumer Sciences team applies advanced analytics techniques to parse what people articulate from what they actually feel or do. Techniques we commonly use include cluster and factor analyses, structural equation modeling, discrete choice modeling such as conjoint or maximum difference scaling, perceptual mapping and more.

Cultural Insights

A truly holistic understanding takes more than talking to consumers. We look directly at the broader cultural landscape to unpack lived experiences and spot emerging trends. Our cultural insights work draws from a variety of sources and disciplines including semiotics, social media listening, expert and influencer networks, and observational methods. We triangulate these insights with primary research to get the complete picture – fueling hypotheses, enriching findings, and revealing strategic possibilities.
